The ski trip took place between Tuesday 16th – Friday 19th February.
Primary 6 and 7 pupils from P5/6M, P6/7R and P7T went to on the trip.
Twenty seven Pupils and three staff (Mr Rutherford, Mrs Sinclair and Mrs Welsh)
This year we stayed in the house. We were joined at the school by a Catholic school from Stoke .
On the first day we skied on the dry slope then had nearly three full days skiing at the Lecht. Conditions were good. Weather varied from very cold with snow showers to beautiful blue skies and sunshine.
Excellent trip and every child progressed to managing the tows and skiing down the Robin, Wren, Kestrel and Eagle runs.
Thanks go to the excellent staff at the Abernethy Centre, the Lecht Ski Area Staff and especially to the three Kinloss Staff members Mr Rutherford, Mrs Sinclair and Mrs Welsh who accompanied the children on the trip.They took part in all the activities too and made sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable Abernethy Experience.
Here are some pictures from our recent Burns Supper on Friday 24th January. The P6/7 Children prepared all the food with the help of their teachers, Mr Rutherford, Miss Mair and the Fusion team (Emily Souness, Kim Douglas and Ann Scotland). Apart from preparing the food the children, helped to decorate the venue (the school hall) and created a leaflet listing the programme for the event, background on Robert Burns and a photograph of the class as part of a four week preparation process (details below the slideshow).
It took four weeks of planning running up to the event itself.
Week 1 Researching Robert Burns, creating promotions and invitations, divide the class into groups and decide on roles e.g. chefs, researchers, designers and entertainers.
Week 2 Looked into sourcing ingredients, costings for the meal, invitations to parents, start creating decorations and practise the entertainment.
Week 3 Practiced cooking and did taste tests, decorations, entertainment practice and then start to look into the format of the day, allocating roles to certain pupils.
Week 4 Dress rehearsal for the big day, final entertainment practice, decorate the hall and prepare the food (Thursday 23rd Jan) ready for Friday. Finally a powerpoint was created of the photos showing the hardwork and preparation for the event.
